MEET THE TEAM BEHIND THE SCENES…

Walantanalinany Palingina is made up of community artist, art workers and practitioners volunteering their time. They are responsible for guiding the development, structure and services of Walantanalinany Palingina. The working group is selected and directed by Tasmanian Aboriginal Elder and knowledge sharer, Uncle Jim puralia meenamatta Everett.

Jim Everett puralia meenamatta

Uncle Jim has a vision that many in the community have been talking about for a long while. A dream for a cultural creative place in Tasmania, and a dream for the Tasmanian Aboriginal community to host a major international First Nations festival.

An event filled with culture, creativity and creative excellence; a gathering that gives our community an occasion to truly shine. However, an important part of turning this dream into a reality is to support our community artists and cultural practitioners to:

  • Get excited about sharing their work, ideas and passions,

  • Develop their practice, skills and capacity, and

  • Expand, reach beyond and think big…

That means that all of you who sit around your kitchen table singing up a storm, or who have a book filled with incredible art or stories but no one gets to see… Come out, connect up and help create this dream!
